As someone that is passionate about health and fitness, and not a proponent of any specific diet, I know that consuming fresh fruits and vegetables frequently is key to building and creating a healthy lifestyle; yet, our culture is all about processed, fast and convenient foods that are slowly killing us. With my fruits/veggies project, I aimed to create images that explored the visual aspects of plant foods, with the hopes of giving them some “sex appeal”, so to speak. I aimed to combine the tools of photography - composition, lighting, depth of field, styling, etc - with aspects of the natural forms of the subjects, such as shapes, colors, textures, opacity, etc, to create an interesting image that celebrates the beauty and perhaps inspires an appreciation for the food itself. Items photographed include: apples, bananas, grapes, broccoli, pomegranate, salad leaves and more.
